Revlon Colourstay Foundation

Hey guys,
I know everyone and their dog has done a review on this foundation but I felt the need to share my feelings on Revlon's Colourstay foundation as I have been using it a lot lately and have been having some thoughts about it. So here goes...

At £12.99 it is on the pricier side of high street/drug store foundations (I have literally just this second found that it can be purchased for £8.99 on Cheap Smells, who do free UK delivery yay!), but I would say it is worth the money. The foundation itself is a high coverage foundation so if your a tinted moisturiser/BB cream fan I would say this product is not for you. However if like me you like or need full coverage this foundation is your guy! It covers almost all of my pesky flaws, on a good skin day I could wear this, set it with a transparent powder and not need any additional coverage from concealer which is what I look for in foundations as although I like a high coverage foundation I don't like the feeling of wearing a lot of make up and looking cakey, which if you are applying a lot of other products on top of this foundation, is a risk you run. So I tend to apply a light layer using very little foundation and then going back over my problem areas with a bit more.

There are two types of this foundation to cater to different skin types - Normal to Dry skin and Oily/Combination skin. I have only ever used the Oily/Combination foundation as I have very oily skin which doesn't take long after applying foundation to start to look shiney. Which brings me to my favourite thing about the Revlon Colourstay foundation, it doesn't make me look shiney AT ALL! Unless it was an extremely hot day outside or I was doing something that caused me to sweat excessively, but under normal circumstances I have worn this foundation on long days at work and college and I have been shine free and this is the only foundation I own that I could say that about so for me that is a massive positive! It is also long lasting and doesn't wear off easily so for long days or nights out this foundation is perfect.

To apply this foundation I use my Real Techniques Expert Face Brush for a flawless finish. I would also use my fingers to apply it if I was going for a lighter coverage. I have this in a range of colours as I use it as part of my kit, on myself I use the colour True Beige when I have a good tan, if I'm paler I'll mix it with a lighter shade of foundation.

The first criticism I have about the Revlon Colourstay foundation is the colour range, I prefer a yellow toned foundation and I feel that the shade range for this foundation are all a bit pinky toned which means I have to mix this foundation with another more yellowy toned foundation to get a better colour match. My second and last criticism is that I feel like it clings to my dry patches slightly, which is not a massive deal as most foundations do cling to dry skin especially oil free ones. I might try mixing the oil free with the normal to dry skin foundation to see if that solves the problem. I'll let you know how I get on with that!

What are your thoughts on the Revlon Colourstay foundation?

MAKE-UP LOOK: Peachy Keen!

Hey Guys,
Since I had a day off this morning I decided I was going to create some more make-up looks for y'all! While looking through my kit I found a palette I completely forgot I had. I discovered this palette in college during a fantasy look assessment, I was finding that the colours I had weren't vibrant enough for the colourful look I was going for and my friend gave me her palette to use. It was a god send, the colours were perfect for my look and so bright! When she told me where it was from and the price I couldn't believe it, the palette is from a brand I've never heard of 'Technic', it can be bought in Bodycare and cost around £3.99, so I obviously went out and bought my own. But until now I hadn't even taken it out the wrapper ha! So when I found it this morning I thought I'd try a wearable look using it.

As you can see not exactly the most wearable colours! But anyways on to the look, this is a very versatile look you could change the black gel liner to brown pencil for a very wearable daytime look, add lashes for a park look. As it is I'd wear this look out for lunch or dinner, somewhere I would want to make an effort for but not look too done up :)

1. Take the pinky/peachy colour from the palette (top row 2nd from left) and apply to the inner corner of the eye.
2. Taking the champagne colour directly bellow, apply to the rest of the lid and blend the two together.
3. Taking Smog from the Urban Decay Naked palette, apply the the outer corner and blend.
4. To create more definition place Darkhorse from the same Urban Decay palette in the very outer V of the eye and blend with a clean brush. Keep blending until you are happy with the colour and intensity.
5. Taking a black gel liner create a winged line on the upper lash line.
6. Take Half Baked 3/4 along the lower lash line and then Darkhorse along the final quarter of the lower lash line.
7. Line the water line with flesh coloured kohl pencil (I used Rimmel Scandal Eyes in the colour Nude).
8.Apply your favourite mascara, fill your brows in and the eyes are done!

For the lips I used a combination of MAC Creme D'Nude with Revlon Lip Butter in Juicy Papaya over the top for a peachy nude colour.

Hope you enjoyed this look! I will share any other looks I can come up with using this palette :)

MAKE-UP LOOK: Purple Party Eyes

Hey Guys,
Very nervous about posting my first make-up look! I Didn't know how much effort was involved in creating a make-up look and then capturing it accurately on camera, it took me a long time to get pictures I was pleased with but here is the finished look followed by a simple step by step, enjoy :)

1. Apply MAC Phoolf! to inner corner of the eye and the brow bone.
2. Apply Hustle from the Urban Decay Naked palette all over the lid and blend the edges.
3.Apply Creep from the same palette to outer corner and blend, continue to apply and blend until you are happy with the colour.
4. Using any black gel liner (I used No.7) line upper lash line creating a flick at the end.
5. Using any black kohl liner (I used MAC smoulder) line water and tight line.
6. Apply mascara to top and bottom lashes, once dry apply your favourite lashes.
7. Once the glue is dry go back over your top lash line to cover the lash seem.
8. Fill in eyebrows go back over your highlights and tah-dah!

For the lips I applied Lime Crime Babette which is a beautiful nude that won't take any attention away from the eyes.

Lime Crime, Revlon & Bourjois Lip Haul!

Hey guys,

Thought I would share with you some of my recent lip purchases as I have really been enjoying a few of them!

As superdrug were having a 2 for £10 deal on all Revlon Lip products I was quick to take advantage and grab a few products, as well as one boujois product that I had seen a lot of hype about and wanted to try out. I also made a purchase on www.love-makeup.co.uk after seeing a lot of instagram posts of Lime Crime products I wanted to get some for myself!

Revlon Colourburst Lip Butter
 Strawberry Shortcake £7.99
Revlon Colourburst Lip Butter
Juicy Papaya £7.99

I'm obsessed with these lipbutters and now want them in every colour, they give a nice wash of colour to the lips without being as dramatic as lipstick and also feel very moisturising, these have become a subsitute for vaseline for me!

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain
Honey Duce £7.99
Revlon Colourstay Ultimate Suede Lipstick
Front Row £8.99
These unfortunatley are my least favourite purchases :( my only problem with the lipstick is the colour, it is almost like a frosty light pink on the lips which just isn't my thing. The balm stain was dissapointing, I was expecting it to be like the Bourjois Lip Crayons however this does not go on creamy like the Lip Crayon, it is very dry and pulls when you apply it. Not a fan!

Bourjois Colorboost Lip Crayon
Peach on the Beach £7.99
This as you can see is well loved and used, ever since buying it, it has been one of my go to lip products for everyday use! I love the colour of this and the way it feels on the lips, it is so creamy and feels extremely moisturising. It also contains spf15 which I love during this strangely long summer we've been getting as my lips can get very dry in the heat.

Lime Crime Candyfuture Lipstick
Babette £11.50
Lime Crime Candyfuture Lipstick
Geradium £11.50

After buying these lipsticks I can see what all the hype is about! They are so pigmented and opaque which is hard to find in nude lipsticks especially, I always find nude lipsticks a bit more transparent than bright coloured lipsticks but Babette is completely opaque and looks especially nice with a dark smokey eye. Geradium is just a beautiful colour that I can't wait to wear more of. These Lime Crime lipsticks are also very creamy and not drying atall.

What lip products are you loving at the moment?

Zoeva Haul & MAC Dupes!

Hey guys,

I have recently been looking to expand my kit brush collection as currently I have one set of brushes that I use on myself and clients(washing in-between obviously), however I'm sure many of you agree that washing make up brushes constantly is one hell of a chore! So I decided to have my own personal brushes that I use on myself daily and another set that I keep in my kit for clients. So when payday came I started looking around for some new eye brushes starting at MAC and various other high end brands but after choosing even a couple staple brushes I was looking at a very big bill. So I started doing a bit more research and came across Zoeva, which I think is a German brand (correct me if I'm wrong). The site was very easy to navigate and it didn’t take me long to find exactly what I was looking for! All the brushes were very reasonably priced, everything was priced in Euros and it wasn't until I actually went to pay for the items using PayPal that I was told the amount in Pounds but that wasn’t an issue for me as I knew that whatever it was in Euros it would be cheaper in Pounds! So I chose the eye set which at 33 EUR for 7 kit essential brushes in my opinion was a complete bargain!

This is how they arrived, the package also contained a free brush cleaner which was a nice extra I haven't tried it out yet though. I placed my order on a Friday, the brushes arrived the following Tuesday. The price including shipping came to 40.50 EUR which was about £36. These brushes are so soft and feel just as good (maybe even better) as any MAC or other high end brands that you would be paying fortunes for just a single brush. I personally think that almost all of these brushes could be dupes for some of MAC's most popular brushes at only a fraction of the price!

234 Smokey Shader - MAC 239 Dupe

230 Pencil - MAC 219 Dupe

228 Crease - MAC 224 Dupe

315 Fine Liner

223 Soft Definer - MAC 217 Dupe

231 Petite Crease

317 Wing Liner - MAC 266 Dupe

I highly recommend these brushes to everyone looking for excellent quality brushes at amazing prices! I will be creating some looks with these brushes for future blog posts so look out for that :)
