L'Oreal True Match Foundation

I was recommended this foundation by a few people who raved and raved about it and I've seen a couple of youtubers say this is their favourite drug store foundation so I thought I'd give it a try!

I bought the colour Golden Natural

So my first experience with the foundation was a bit of a disaster. I bought a shade that was too dark for me (I was in a rush when I was picking the colour!) which thanks to the terrible lighting in my room I never realised until I got to work and was then told by my lovely bf to "wash that orange stuff off my face" when he came to pick me up, so it never saw the light of day for a good while after that but once I had a bit more of a tan I decided to give it another go.

I so want to love this foundation because so many other people seem to but after many disappointed attempts I've finally given up on this working for me. Don't get me wrong when I first apply this foundation I love it! It feels so light on the skin and makes my skin feel smooth and soft but that lasts all of a couple hours before I'm a shiney mess which I really should have expected considering the description does state that it "contains 3 light, non-greasy oils". Light or not any foundation containing oils is not going to be the best thing for oily skin.

I think this foundation works best on normal to dry skin types and I would definitely use this foundation on clients with this type of skin because as I said it does go on beautifully its just that on me it doesn't stay that way.

It is not as full a coverage as say Revlon Colour Stay but it has enough coverage to cover any redness and small blemishes which has been perfect for me recently as my skin has improved a lot recently so I'm looking to try out foundations with less coverage. There are so many reasons to love this foundation but sadly it just doesn't work out for me and my oily skin!

Revlon Colourstay Foundation

Hey guys,
I know everyone and their dog has done a review on this foundation but I felt the need to share my feelings on Revlon's Colourstay foundation as I have been using it a lot lately and have been having some thoughts about it. So here goes...

At £12.99 it is on the pricier side of high street/drug store foundations (I have literally just this second found that it can be purchased for £8.99 on Cheap Smells, who do free UK delivery yay!), but I would say it is worth the money. The foundation itself is a high coverage foundation so if your a tinted moisturiser/BB cream fan I would say this product is not for you. However if like me you like or need full coverage this foundation is your guy! It covers almost all of my pesky flaws, on a good skin day I could wear this, set it with a transparent powder and not need any additional coverage from concealer which is what I look for in foundations as although I like a high coverage foundation I don't like the feeling of wearing a lot of make up and looking cakey, which if you are applying a lot of other products on top of this foundation, is a risk you run. So I tend to apply a light layer using very little foundation and then going back over my problem areas with a bit more.

There are two types of this foundation to cater to different skin types - Normal to Dry skin and Oily/Combination skin. I have only ever used the Oily/Combination foundation as I have very oily skin which doesn't take long after applying foundation to start to look shiney. Which brings me to my favourite thing about the Revlon Colourstay foundation, it doesn't make me look shiney AT ALL! Unless it was an extremely hot day outside or I was doing something that caused me to sweat excessively, but under normal circumstances I have worn this foundation on long days at work and college and I have been shine free and this is the only foundation I own that I could say that about so for me that is a massive positive! It is also long lasting and doesn't wear off easily so for long days or nights out this foundation is perfect.

To apply this foundation I use my Real Techniques Expert Face Brush for a flawless finish. I would also use my fingers to apply it if I was going for a lighter coverage. I have this in a range of colours as I use it as part of my kit, on myself I use the colour True Beige when I have a good tan, if I'm paler I'll mix it with a lighter shade of foundation.

The first criticism I have about the Revlon Colourstay foundation is the colour range, I prefer a yellow toned foundation and I feel that the shade range for this foundation are all a bit pinky toned which means I have to mix this foundation with another more yellowy toned foundation to get a better colour match. My second and last criticism is that I feel like it clings to my dry patches slightly, which is not a massive deal as most foundations do cling to dry skin especially oil free ones. I might try mixing the oil free with the normal to dry skin foundation to see if that solves the problem. I'll let you know how I get on with that!

Vichy Dermablend Foundation

Hi girls,

Before I get into this review I'll start by giving you a bit of background on my skin. I have pretty problematic skin, once a month I get a severe outbreak of spots mostly around my jaw area (thank you hormones!) and on the forehead. The rest of the month I get a spot here and there but nothing major. My biggest problem is scarring, when my skin was really bad I'd have multiple clusters of spots and whiteheads(yuck I know) on my forehead and chin and out of frustration I would pick and poke at them which has now left me with lots of red marks. I find that even when my skin is clear these red marks still make me look spotty which is why I rarely ever go anywhere without a bit of foundation or concealer, I am getting braver though!

So onto the review,

Vichy Dermablend is a highly pigmented foundation that is aimed at problem skin which is what attracted me to it, that and watching Lisa Eldridge's video on Acne/Blemish Covering Make-up. 

At £15.50 for 35ml of product this is a bit on the pricey side, a bit more than high street brands but still a lot less than your high end brands and personally I think it is completely worth the price! I have been using this foundation for a long time now and love it!! It completely covers all my sins and more impressively it removes my need for concealer which is great as one less step means that tiny bit longer in bed in the morning :)

When my skin is at its best I need one light layer of this and when I say light I mean it, you need a tiny bit of product as it is so highly pigmented a little definitely goes a long way with this foundation, so even though it is on the more expensive side you will definitely get your moneys worth out of this foundation. I apply the majority of the product to the centre of my face and blend out, adding a little extra to my jaw line as this is often a problem area for me. To apply I use my Real Techniques Buffing brush. Once I have given that time to settle into my skin I take the tiniest amount and go back in and spot conceal anything that needs a bit more coverage. A bit of powder and I'm ready to go!

Whenever my skin is acting up I usually apply one light layer, let it settle and then go back and add a second light layer concentrating on the problem areas, once again a bit of powder and I'm all set to move on to the rest of my make-up steps.

After over 2 months of using this foundation I can safely say it has not once broke me out or caused any irritation, it has a spf of 15 which is another plus for the summer months and I have not noticed any white cast in pictures normally associated with products with spf in them. 

There are only 2 downsides to this foundation, the first is there is not a large range of colours so finding one to match perfectly may be a problem however buying 2 and mixing is always a good solution to that problem, the second is the smell, it has a pretty strong smell but this is only when applying it so don't let that put you off! 

So as you can see I love this product and would highly recommend it to anyone with problem skin or anyone who prefers a full coverage foundation! Can be bought at any Boots store for £15.50.
