MAKE-UP LOOK: Plum Smokey Eye Using Illamasqua Kit

For those of you who seen my Illamasqua Kit post and were interested to see how the products were I thought I'd do a full make-up look using Illamasqua products from the kit where I could, enjoy :)

The look is a very simple neutral face with a dark plum smokey eye. I liked this look a lot and really enjoyed using the Illamasqua products especially the foundation which made my skin look flawless, the eye shadows were a dream to blend and I LOVED the lipstick and gloss combo! I couldn't use all Illamasqua products as there were somethings not included in the kit so I substituted.

Products used:
Illamasqua Hydra Veil
Illamasqua Skin Base 08
Collection Concealer - Medium
Rimmel Stay Matte Setting Powder - Translucent
Sleek Contour Kit - Medium
Illamasqua Blush - Tremble
Illamasqua Complement Palette
Illamasqua Precision Ink - Abyss
Mac Kohl Liner - Smolder
Illamasqua Eyebrow Cake - Gaze
Illamasqua Lipstick - Test
Illamasqua Lip gloss - Intimacy
Maybelline Falsies Mascara
Kiss Haute Couture False Lashes

1. To prime the skin apply Illamasqua Hydra Veil and then with a buffing brush apply Illamasqua skin base for a flawless finish.
2. Apply the lightest colour in the Illamasqua Complement Palette in the inner corner of the eyelid then take the matte plum colour directly bellow and apply to the rest of the lid and blend the two colours together.
3. Take the darkest plum colour in the palette and apply to the outer corner of the eye and blend to create a smokey eye effect, keep applying and blending until you get the intensity that you want.
4. Using a small pencil brush take the darkest shade under the eye close to the lash line.
5. Apply Illamasqua Precision Ink to the top lash line and create a winged line.
6. Take Mac Smolder along the water line and tight line for a really dark look, smudge along the bottom lash line as well with a cotton bud.
7. Apply False lashes to finish the eyes.
8. There shouldn't be much fall out but if there is clean it up with a make-up wipe and then take Collection Concealer under the eyes and I used my buffing brush to blend this, then apply on to any blemishes and blend in with your finger lightly.
9. Use Rimmel Stay matte with a large powder brush to set the foundation and concealer.
10. Using your favourite brush for contour take the Sleek Contour Kit and apply under the cheek bones and to the temples, I then take a light dusting of the contour colour on a large powder brush over the rest of the face to blend everything together and to add a bit more colour to the face.
11. Apply Illamasqua Blusher in Tremble to the cheeks just above where you put the contour colour.
12. Fill in eyebrows using an angled brush and Illamasqua Eyebrow Cake in Gaze.
13. To finish off apply Illamasqua lipstick in Test and go over with their lip gloss in Intimacy.

Favourite Lipsticks

Hey guys,
Lipsticks are probably my favourite make-up product to buy, I love to wear them with just a basic make-up (foundation, powder, bronzer, bit of blush and mascara) to add a pop of colour and make the look a bit less bland, my make-up doesn't feel complete without something on my lips! So I thought I'd share with you 4 of my most reached for lipsticks, 2 summer colours and 2 autumn colours as the summer months are on the way out sadly.

1. MAC Impassioned - This is a vibrant pink that definitely adds a pop of colour to your look, this looks especially nice with black winged liner on the upper lash line or nothing on the eyes at all except some mascara which at college was my go to look almost every day.

2. L'Oreal Colour Riche Magnetic Coral - As I mentioned in a previous post this is probably my favourite colour for summer! It is a beautiful coraly orange colour and looks amazing with almost any look, I wear this during the day with only some mascara on the eyes or at night with a bronze smokey eye. On holiday I wore this colour almost every night with a dark smokey eye, it doesnt make you look as over done as a red lip could look with such heavy eye make up it just ties your look together perfectly.

3. Rimmel Starry-eyed - This wine coloured lipstick is exactly what I think of when I think of autumn make-up. It is a slightly bold colour but once you work up the courage to wear it you'll never look back, this with a winged liner and some strong cheek contour is a beautiful  but edgey look perfect for the autumn months.

4. Rimmel Kate Moss 01 - This deep red is a beautiful autumn colour and reminds me of Christmas! This shade looks best with a winged liner or smudged kohl liner on the upper and lower lash line, keep it simple. I don't have much more to say about this lipstick (mental block) other than I love it!

Here are some swatches...
